According to US Travel, more than half of Americans do not use their vacation days each year. So why are we not taking vacations? Work stress, pressure from our jobs, fear of missing career opportunities, and inability to unplug from technology. Unfortunately, we forget the value of taking a healthy vacation. Time away allows us to take care of ourselves and recharge. It is great for our physical, mental and spiritual health.
That is why I chose to go to SHI Macrobiotic’s Healthy Vacation Adventure in Costa Rica. Before the trip, I was struggling with headaches, migraines, eye strain, and fatigue. It became clear that all the long hours at work and on the computer had caught up to me. And I needed a fun, relaxing retreat. And that is exactly what I got joining SHI’s Healthy Vacation Adventure in Costa Rica. It was AMAZING! Here are the exciting activities, great food, and classes that I experienced on this healthy vacation.
Healthy Vacation with a Relaxing and Flexible Schedule
My biggest worry for this trip was the schedule would be too full and restrictive. However, Denny and Susan did a great job of giving us plenty of time to explore beautiful Costa Rica and the Arenal Volcano area.
Activities
We had a tour guide, Leo, who helped plan group activities – hanging bridges, hiking, river rafting trip, farm tour and sloth tour. Or you could easily set up an activity through Tabacon Hot Springs Resort – spa day, ziplining, horseback riding, white river rafting and so much more. It was really up to you! This allowed everyone to have the vacation they desired. You could participate in as many activities as you wanted or just relax at the beautiful Tabacon hot springs.
Meals Provided – Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Susan organized and planned every meal with the chefs at the resort. All you had to do is show up and enjoy! They were also accommodating to anyone with dietary restrictions.
Cooking Classes
Susan demonstrated simple, delicious recipes that we can easily recreate at home. And we were able to ask questions along the way.
Lectures
The lectures were insightful in understanding the core concepts of macrobiotics. In addition, Denny was more than happy to answer any questions we had.
Overall, I was very satisfied with this trip. And saw the difference when I returned to work. I felt happier and more energized. It was worth it to leave my computer behind and take this amazing Healthy Vacation Adventure in Costa Rica. I’m looking forward to the next trip to Costa Rica in 2020.
